I made Christmas ornaments out of peg dolls and attached the cording for hanging with these tiny screw eyes on the top. It was a huge success. One piece of advice I came across that worked for me was: I firmly placed the peg dolls in a table-top container, wrapped in a towel to protect the paint. I drilled a short straight hole in the top of the vice with a small electric hand drill and a small 1/16th inch bit. After that, it's just a matter of screwing the eye into the hole.
I was ecstatic to receive these because I use them in my resin wall hangings. My expectations were high because they arrived on time and looked exactly like the photo. They're cheap and flimsy, as it turns out. When I tried to screw one in, the actual loop bent out of shape to the point where it couldn't be fixed, and when I tried to screw another in, it snapped off in my resin piece. Mind you, I use jewelry pliers to drill the holes first and then screw them in slowly and carefully. It was a waste of time and money.
As a pilot hole, I tapped a thumbtack into the top, then screwed it in place. It has a professional and adorable look to it. It was a very enjoyable and simple project, with excellent quality and a perfect size.
Before I thread them in, I drill a pilot hole. The hooks are strong enough to hold the weight of the ornaments, but they are not made of high-quality metal, as many have twisted off and broken while being threaded in. Putting them in has also stripped the threads several times. The price isn't anything to write home about.
These are what I used to attach hooks to my mini pops (from previous advent calendars). To avoid injuring my fingertips, I started abhilole with an awl and then screwed these in with pliers. Throughout the season, they remained in place.
This year, I'm making a lot of my own ornaments out of old toys and miniatures that have outgrown their shelf space.
The ornaments screwed in easily after a small pilot hole was made in the top of each one. This year, we had an "Office" advent calendar and tree.
These were used as rigging on a model sailing ship that I built. They worked perfectly and were the perfect size for 1/8" string.
