To screw one in, I had to use a pair of jewelry pliers, but once I got a good grip on it, they were simple to insert into my wood and small enough not to split it (a problem I had with a larger eye). They were also well-packaged, with each item being double-bagged to ensure that none of them fell out during shipping. I'm not going to buy them again because there were about a million in the package, and I'm not sure I'll use them for random crafts in fifty years. However, I strongly advise you to do so.
These were purchased to be used as wind chimes. They kept breaking on me as I was screwing them into the wood. I thought maybe I was using too much force, so I tried to be more careful and finished the project; however, after I gave them to my mother as a Mother's Day gift, she texted me to say she had received them and that one of the eye screws had broken when she took it out of the box! To me, that appears to be a fairly flimsy metal. If these aren't just for show, don't buy them.
So, while I'm not sure what it is, I need to be extremely cautious around my son who has a nut allergy. Aside from that, they appear to be sturdy and the ideal size and color for my needs.
These are the eyelets to get if you're a crafter who needs small eyelets for ornaments or small hanging crafts. I used my lathe to make Christmas ornaments out of wooden pen blanks, which I then hung with colored ribbons. The threads are quite fine, but they held up well when I screwed them in.
These are what I'm using to make recycled cork wine glass charms. They easily screw into the cork and stay in place. It meets my requirements perfectly.
They come in a large quantity for the price and are very durable. I use them on my hardwood ornaments and they do not bend.
Since we're all stuck at home, I decided to get these to pass the time and make some jewelry, and I'll admit, I'm pleasantly surprised at how well they work. I wasn't sure what to expect given the low price, but I highly recommend it!.
I installed them with needle nose pliers, and it went smoothly.
