PVC rubber pin backers are a great alternative to metal butterfly clutch pin backs because they provide a good grip on the pin. These soft rubber pin backs give the pin a good grip and help it stay put.

Even when washed and dried (not recommended), they stay firmly attached. These are ideal for military ribbons, medals, insignia devices, and lapel pins (which I discovered by accident). This book comes highly recommended.

For the purpose at hand, it is completely useless

I ordered these with the expectation that they would come with both pins and clips, and that because they were rubber and plastic, they would be better suited to holding the cotton napkins I use as headbands in place because they would be corrosive resistant. I was disappointed to discover that only the clips were included, but that was my fault; even worse, unlike the metal clips I had been using, they pop off the one remaining pin I have on hand, rendering them completely useless.

Three of the rubber pinbacks in my box have extra plastic around the base (manufacturer's defect)

Three of the pinbacks have manufacturer's defects, such as extra plastic around the pinbacks' bases, as shown in my photo. br>br>These pinbacks are not of the same quality as the pinbacks that come with new enamel pins that I purchase, as the rubber on these is not as strong, and they bend more easily, making it more difficult for me to remove them from pins. However, I have yet to use them and am unlikely to do so in the future. I would not have bought them if I had known, because I needed replacement pinbacks that were identical to the ones on my pins. But, who knows, maybe they'll appeal to others.

These work well for a short time, but the rubber is a little too hard and they lose their retention ability after several uses

I pierce them in other places to extend their usefulness, but they can only be used so many times. Because they're inexpensive, you can replace them frequently and it's not a big deal, but I don't like the failure and having to dig through my shirt to find them when they come undone.

It won't snag on the fabric! I bought this pack to replace a lost backing on a favorite pin, but they were so simple to use that I ended up replacing all of my pin clasps with these backings, and now none of my pins catch on fabric! Worked perfectly. The color matches the shadow of my collar, which I like. Tight. Ensure that you have a firm grip on your pins. It's a tight fit. These aren't going to come off in the washing machine, am I right? Thank you for providing such a useful product; as a FIRST responder (security officer), these are extremely useful.

Secured, but keep an eye on the sides

I wear a uniform vest to work and use these, which have taken a beating since I got them. I'm always holding stacks of crates, and they'll latch onto one of my pins now and then, but they don't fall out like regular pin backs did. One thing to keep in mind is to make sure you push the back evenly onto the spike and don't make the pin wobble because the spine will go through the side; I had that happen to me and it was quite a shock; my finger is still healing.
