A sharp edge. There are several products that do not have a good reputation because they have low quality Marking steel cuts with these is what I do. It works just like soapstone markers, but the pointed ends are sharp enough to keep right up against a ruler and leave a clean line. The steel, glass, and hardened steel file I was testing all scratch easily. Even when a chipping hammer was close to my grasp, I've removed welding slag by hand. In my assumption, if dropped, they would be ruined, but that's not surprising. It is solid, not hollow, so the handles stay put when you set them down. If I ordered another set of nine I would place them all around the shop for roughly the same price as buying one piece at the store.
The product is still going strong after being used every day! They WILL be on my shopping list.
We're going to have so much fun with these. The set would have been nice if it came with a right angle graver, too, but what the heck, I can buy it Whenever I saw the set, I noticed how heavy and sturdy it was. The etching of a plain stainless steel signet ring was almost as easy as drawing with a pencil. Thanks a lot!.
The quality is good. Although only used a handful of times, the tip is still sharp, and it comes in a multipack, so I have plenty of backups in case one is lost.
I haven't yet had a chance to use them, but they seem great. Despite their blunt appearance, they have very sharp edges.
The sharpest and heaviest point on the scale.
Although the pens are a bit thicker than standard, we find that they are easier to hold while welding with thick leather gloves.
