Questions & Answers

Is there a round hole on the top of the Broan F403023 that can be used to connect a duct to the wall outlet?

Yes, you can choose between a round hole (7" diameter) and a 3. rectangle opening of 75" x 10"

Why is it that the dimensions of the 24' Broan Range Hood are listed as 17. 5x42x9" ?

The dimensions of the F402401 are 24" x 17". 5" x 6". Any other measurement listed would be inaccurate.

What exactly is the function of a damper flap?

When the hood is on, the damper flap allows steam and smoke to vent, and when it is off, it prevents cold air from blowing back into the house.

Is this a product that was created in the United States?

It's probably you, I believe. I know the fan is from China, but I've had no issues with this budget Range Hood and would recommend it to anyone on a tight budget.

After three years, I decided to stop working
4/5

I liked it at first, even though one of the screens was prone to falling out, but after about three years, it stopped working. It was far too soon. br>br>UPDATE: br>br> After speaking with customer service over the phone, they sent me a new motor, which was simple to install. Now the machine is fully operational. They don't get a "5" because it shouldn't have stopped working in the first place, but they do get a four because they quickly resolved the issue. proactively and did not charge me even though the product was no longer under warranty.

It's a huge improvement over what I had before, and I'm thrilled with it! Last year, we (almost) completely renovated our kitchen
5/5

We still had the wood-burning stove because the house was built in the 1970s and had never been remodeled. Because the kitchen is in the middle of the house, it is very dark. Laminate cabinets, laminate countertops, laminate flooring, black over-the-range microwave, etc. We had painted all of the cabinets white, removed the monstrosity of a microwave, and were now looking for something to fill the void. We began looking into range hoods because I liked the idea of not having to bend down to see what I was cooking on the back burner. We needed a budget-friendly hood that allowed for a rectangular duct at the top, but also from a brand I was familiar with, because any home project ends up costing more than you anticipated due to newly discovered issues. We chose this baby after looking at a variety of brands/models and comparing prices from various stores. She's been fantastic, to say the least. I may be exaggerating a little, but going from a dark, filthy, and completely broken/dead microwave to a bright, spacious range hood is a dream come true. I installed it in March or April 2017 and have been cooking with it every day since (I like the extra light when I cook on the stove). The fan works wonders, sucking up all of the steam. I haven't burned anything to the point where there is actual smoke that needs to be sucked out, but I only cook with cast iron, and whenever I cook steak or fry chicken, there is some smoke that rises, but it quickly dissipates. When I make pasta and boil the noodles (which happens at least once a week), I usually use the fan. It keeps the kitchen clean and prevents condensation from getting into the cabinets above the stove. br>I really like this thing, and I haven't had any problems with it. I would recommend it to anyone.

Wow, that's a fantastic hood! I wasn't expecting it to completely absorb all cooking odors and noxious gases produced by using propane inside
5/5

This was exactly what I had hoped for. Because I live in a tiny house and cook with a small outdoor Camp Chef propane oven, I required a lot of outdoor ventilation. This was the last straw!.

Broan hoods are a type of ventilation hood
3/5

They aren't the same as they used to be. This unit arrived damaged, but based on other purchasers' reviews, I wasn't surprised. Simply put, I'm a contractor who has worked with Broan hoods on numerous occasions in the past. The size of this range sets it apart from the competition; there aren't many 42-inch ranges on the market today. This was to replace an older unit that had reached the end of its useful life. However, the quality of materials and workmanship distinguishes this newer hood from the older one. The old hood is made of thicker metal that has been bent and assembled much better. Broan ships these hoods in a retail store box that isn't designed for shipping, so they're easily damaged during transit. The newer hood's quality is definitely lacking, and while the price point appears to be reasonable, you would be better off looking for a different hood, even if it costs a little more.

The replacement is very straightforward
5/5

This unit was purchased to replace one that was at least 16 years old, but could have been installed when the house was built more than 30 years ago. The replacement was made much easier by the fact that the new unit had almost identical installation instructions. It was a perfect fit for the cabinet space that already existed. The exhaust matched the existing rectangular hole perfectly, and I was even able to use the same four screws to secure the hood to the cabinet. The only difference was that the power came in on the right side of the back panel (looking from the front), rather than the left, but this was easily adjusted. br>br>The device is reasonably priced and appears to be a good buy. The new unit has a hardwired connection, but the old one did as well, so no new parts were required. Both the rectangular and round exhaust ducts came with hardware and perforations for knockouts in both configurations. If you follow the installation instructions to the letter, you will need to purchase foil-based duct tape, and if you choose the ductless option, you will need to purchase a different filter. You'll need to purchase a plug to connect to the provided hardwire configuration if you're using one for your current setup. br>br>Although delivery was not via Amazon, it was prompt and the hood arrived in good condition. Overall, I'm pleased with the product.

It's a great fit and a great purchase! Installed quickly (though I could have done with a pair of extra hands), perfectly fit the existing 40-year-old duct, and runs and lights without a hitch
4/5

However, exercise caution when using the fan screen. It's so light that it easily rubs up against the fan during installation, creating a lot of noise. With a simple change, it's no longer an issue. It's a little noisy, but as I explained to my wife, "that just means it's sucking up odors and heat that much faster!" I'm not sure if she bought it or not. If your stove is black and stainless, there's no reason to spend another $50 on a stainless-finish unit. The black is very attractive, and it goes perfectly with our new gas stove.
